Movie Review: Odd Thomas

via

Odd Thomas by Dean Koontz is one of my favorite books and I have reread it many times.  For those of you who don't know, Odd Thomas is a series of books by my favorite author, Dean Koontz.  It is about a small town fry cook who just happens to be able to see dead people, and among other things he helps the police catch their killers before they can strike again.  When I heard years ago that it was going to be made into a movie I was excited but not too excited, because books tend to be better than their movies.  I noticed that this movie was finally on Netflix yesterday. (and Netflix didn't even recommend it to me!)  I was busy yesterday so I watched it today, with low expectations, and was not disappointed.  This movie is an incredible adaptation of the book.  I would even say that it was very nearly as good as the book, if not as good.  The cast was wonderful, despite the fact that some people didn't like Stormy but she was very true to the Stormy in the book.  I don't think they could have cast it any better.  The special effects were fantastic and super creepy, especially the bodachs (which look way different and better than they do on the movie poster).  I really loved this entire movie and at the end I cried my eyes out, which never happens to me when I watch movies, even though I was pretty sure I knew how this one would end.  I give this movie 4 stars out of 5, and I highly recommend it to people who like supernatural movies involving serial killers.

One reason this movie made me cry is the beautiful relationship that Stormy and Odd have, which is all I can say about the movie without spoilers.  One of my high school friends committed suicide a few days ago and for some reason it didn't really hit me until after I watched this movie.  It's sad that anyone would ever feel so alone.  So watch this movie and make sure your loved ones know that you love them.  Life is short and precious.

Movie Reviews: Dread and Oblivion

The pictures link to the movie on IMDB.

I watched Dread on Netflix over the weekend.  I am still deciding if I liked it.  I think I did.  It's sort of a thriller that starts out very slowly and doesn't get very thrilling until about the last 30 minutes (aside from some intense flashbacks).  This movie is about college students doing a project on people's greatest fears, but then one of the students decides to make everyone face their fears and the results are horrifying.  This movie is not for young people or people who can't handle gore or squeamish people.  I think it was pretty well done and I think I liked it (although it is strange to say I liked something which left me with a bit of a disturbed and sickened feeling).  I'll give it 3 stars out of 5.

I loved Oblivion.  The scenery was breathtaking and the story was great.  When Morgan Freeman appeared I wasn't even surprised because he's in everything lately!  (even more than he was before)  Oblivion is the story of two people on a ruined Earth trying to harness energy for the rest of the population, who have left.  Things get complicated and they begin to question their orders.  It's a great sci-fi film, which kind of reminded me of Independence Day at some parts.  I highly recommend it to everyone who is a fan of post-apocalyptic settings.  I give it 4.5 stars out of 5.

Movie Monday: Accidentally the James Franco Edition

I briefly discussed This is the End in a recent post, but here's a more in-depth review.  First a brief synopsis of my previous "review":
  • falls into my completely-ridiculous-but-I-love-it category
  •  star-studded cast
  •  more laughs than you can shake a stick at
  • If you enjoyed The Hangover, you'll probably like this movie.
The movie begins with a bunch of celebrities at a Hollywood party at James Franco's house (not a spoiler; they show it in the trailer).  They're all friends and Jay Baruchel doesn't really know any of them except Seth Rogen, so it's sort of awkward.  And then things start getting weird and then BAM, Apocalypse (I won't tell you what kind of apocalypse though).  So then everyone's panicking and then they're trying to survive and things get more awkward but it's funny.  Normal apocalypse survival things happen like food rationing and getting annoyed with survival buddies.  Things get consistently crazier and then it's the end of the movie, which I won't give away for obvious reasons.  I felt like it was well-done and thoroughly enjoyed it.  I felt like what happened is probably close to what would actually happen if those celebrities tried to survive an apocalypse together.  It was seriously ridiculous but amazing.  I think that's about all I can say without giving away spoilers.

I got Oz the Great and Powerful from Redbox and watched it with G last night.  We both loved it, so if you're not too serious to enjoy things because you're a grownup and think they're intended for children, you'll probably enjoy it too.  Seriously, IMDB commenters are pretty intent on the fact that only children will like this movie.  For those of you who don't know, this movie is sort of a prequel to The Wizard of Oz which focuses on the origin of The Wizard.  James Franco plays The Wizard and Mila Kunis is one of the witches.  There are some pretty intense action sequences and scary situations which, depending on a child's age and the child, might be too much for children.  The tornado itself is much more realistic than the tornado in The Wizard of Oz, in that there are pieces of dangerous debris flying around.  Adults will enjoy this movie because they'll be able to see parallels between it and The Wizard of Oz, they'll like the action sequences, and they'll appreciate more of the story.  Plus there are some jokes that will whoosh right over children's heads.  There are also many more reasons.  Pretty much, if you're a child at heart and are able to geek over fandoms without feeling self-conscious, you'll like the movie.

For parents of children who are trying to decide if this movie is okay for your child:
Children will enjoy this movie because of the bright colors and cool environments, like the musical environment.  If you have younger children, they might still like this movie, but there are some very intense parts.  The flying monkeys are loud and frightening flying baboons.  There are lots of loud noises, and some of the fighting between witches could be scary for them.  Also there is a part (spoilers, highlight the white part following this to read them) where there is a living china doll whose family got killed by the witch, which may be too emotional for some children.  All in all, I really enjoyed this movie, enough that I would definitely watch it again, and if you're not a wet blanket, you'll probably like it too.  Oh and also, at the beginning of the movie, until after the tornado, the picture is very small and you might think you need to adjust it.  Leave it like that and it will change after the tornado, like how in The Wizard of Oz the movie is in black-and-white until after the tornado.

Happenings

I had a fairly lazy, yet eventful and productive weekend.  On Saturday I finished my first custom Etsy order, which was exciting.  I'm already working on my second custom order.  After that I did some more room cleaning/organizing and inventoried my jewelry supplies.  I made enough space in my room for a shelving unit, so my jewelry stuff will be more organized, instead of just all on top of my dresser like it is now.  I haven't bought the shelving unit yet, but I will soon.  Then I went to a gluten free sushi place called Mio Sushi.  It was really good and it was nice to be able to eat anything on the menu (aside from two dishes) without having to ask a million questions first.  Usually at sushi places, I just get nigiri, which is just fish and rice, as opposed to rolls.  So it was nice to be able to eat sushi rolls again, and I also had a lot left over.  I ate some for lunch today.  It was really good sushi and I highly recommend it.  They have locations in Seattle, Vancouver Washington, Camas Washington (which is near my hometown!), Portland Oregon, Bend Oregon, Eugene Oregon, and Changchun China.  I'm not sure if all of the locations are gluten-free but I know that the Greenlake Seattle location I ate at is predominantly gluten-free.

After sushi, I went to the movies and saw This Is the End.  It was a movie that falls into my completely-ridiculous-but-I-love-it category.  It has a star-studded cast and more laughs than you can shake a stick at.  (Sidenote: How did shaking a stick at something ever become a method of quantifying things?!)  This Is the End is basically about celebrities trying to survive the apocalypse.  I don't want to give anything away, since it's still out in theaters.  Besides the big stars, including Seth Rogen, Jay Baruchel, and James Franco, there are small parts and cameos by lots of other celebrities including, but definitely not limited to, Mindy Kaling, Emma Watson, Rihanna, and Aziz Ansari.  If you enjoyed The Hangover, you'll probably like this movie.  Also for some reason this movie made me have a celebrity crush on Jay Baruchel, so I have my first celebrity crush!  It's weird because I've seen him in a bunch of other movies and felt nothing.  I think it's because I feel like I can relate to him in this movie, the socially awkward one who doesn't know anyone at the party.

And then on Sunday I introduced G to The Office because somehow he's never seen it! (other than maybe two episodes).  He loved it and we marathoned our way through the first season and part of the second.  It's on Netflix.  I didn't want to spoil anything, so I had to be very careful with my response when he said he thought Jim liked Pam, and then again later when he said that Pam likes Jim back, and why is she with that other guy?!  After that I napped and then beat the first two stages of Pandora: Purge of Pride.  (I'll review that game in its own post at some point.  Spoiler alert: I love it!)

And besides that I inadvertently made myself (AKA my Etsy shop but I can wear it for shop promotion, plus I haven't listed it for sale yet) a bracelet that matches my toenail polish, so that happened.  I made the bracelet on purpose, but the matching was unplanned.

Happening Lately

I had a movie night on Friday with my friend who I hadn't been able to hang out with for over a year.  It was tons of fun.  We stopped and got gluten-free pizza and gluten-free pita bread with spinach artichoke dip.  The pita bread tasted better without the dip.  I would eat it all by itself.  The dip was waaaaay too garlicy.  We watched a super old movie called Clan of the Cave Bear and also Whip It.  Then I stayed the night at her house and we went to Goodwill in the morning.  I found a great floral print fedora and the orange Converse (although not actually Converse brand but they look like them) that I have been searching thrift stores for for three years! Score :)  Also on Friday my hula hoop arrived in the mail.  I bought weighted hula hoop on eBay and it came in segments that I had to connect to put it together.  Putting it together was a workout all in itself!  I hula hooped outside while reading my book on Saturday.

my newest hat

Then on Sunday I went to see The Hangover 3, complete with snuck in snacks.  The snacks cost $5 at Safeway and would have cost $20 or more at the theater.  The Hangover 3 was hilarious.  I loved it and laughed almost the whole time.  If you liked the first two, you will like it.  Ignore the negative reviews.  And if you see it, make sure that you stay for the extra part after the end credits start to roll.  It's hilarious and you do not want to miss it.  Trust me.  After the movie I went to Joann Fabrics and finally completed my Buttonquest.  I don't think I shared, but I got a custom Etsy order for three button necklaces with different colored buttons.  (my first custom Etsy order!!!)  I could only find a black button online, but had no luck finding a green one or a purple one.  I tried three or four stores unsuccessfully, then finally found them at Joann Fabrics, which was a huge relief.  I have almost completed all three necklaces now.  I just have to wait for the charms I ordered to arrive in the mail.  Then I went and bought a plastic laundry hamper because I have a fabric one from when I first started college and it's beginning to fall apart.

the two completed custom necklaces

So I've been pretty busy enjoying life and the lovely summery weather.  I hope your weekends were wonderful too.

Movie Review: Wreck-It Ralph

This is one of my new favorite movies.  I rented it from Redbox and I loved it.  A lot of people think that it's a movie for kids, but I actually think that adults will enjoy it more than kids will.  There are so many video game references that kids won't get.  One example of a reference that will go right over kids' heads is the Alcoholics Anonymous style group for video game bad guys.  There are lots of recognizable characters including Sonic the Hedgehog, Dr. Robotnik, Pacman and a Pacman ghost, and Bowser.  This is a movie about a bad guy from a video game who wants to win a medal instead of being thrown into mud at the end of every game.  So he goes on a quest to win a medal so the other characters in his game will love him as much as the game's hero, Fix-It Felix.  He ends up finding more than he bargained for, and finds out that there might be more to people than just whether they're good or bad.  The movie is mostly hilarious, partially heartwarming, and occasionally shocking (I'm talking about twists, nothing that will make you have to cover childrens' eyes).  I think that everyone should watch this movie, especially adults who like video games.  I give it a 5 out of 5.

Movie Reviews

I have watched a lot of movies since my last movie review post on here.  This isn't even all of them.

The Good:

Resident Evil: Retribution

Rented this one from Redbox.  I had been checking the Redbox website every single day waiting for it to be at my Redbox location.  It was finally there and I had to rent it immediately.  I loved it so much.  I don't think it's a secret that I'm a pretty big fan of Resident Evil movies.  They're some of my favorite zombie movies.  This one was no exception.  There were some new fighting techniques, lots of action, some backstory, and some heartwarming moments, plus a really cool car chase scene.  Although the one thing that I couldn't get past is that some of them were so skimpily dressed while others were bundled in parkas in the frozen Arctic.  I'm not sure how nobody froze to death.  Other than that, I loved this movie. 4.5 stars out of 5.

God Bless America

I watched this one on Netflix.  It was amazing!  Granted, it may not be the best movie to watch with all the shootings going on lately, but I thought that it was a really great commentary on the way news is reported and the assumptions people make about shooters.  The acting was really good, and the ending was realistic.  I can't really talk about the plot without accidentally giving things away, so I'll just leave it at that.  5 stars out of 5

Hugo

I watched this one on Netflix too.  From the first time I saw the trailer, I knew I wanted to watch this movie, and I was not disappointed.  The setting of the train station seems magical.  The way that people dress is sort of steampunk-ish and the entire movie is beautifully artistic.  The plot is truly unique (as far as I can tell. I definitely haven't seen every movie ever, but I haven't seen any movies like this before) and the cast is fantastic.  I really loved this movie and highly recommend it to everyone.  5 stars out of 5

Aaah! Zombies!!! (AKA Wasting Away)

I obviously love zombie movies.  I found this one on Hulu Plus and I loved it.  It's made to be like a cheesy B-movie.  The difference is that it's a zombie movie from the perspective of the zombies.  To the zombies, everyone else is just moving extra fast and the zombies themselves can get hurt without dying, so they think that they're superheroes and everyone else is zombies.  It's really unique and cheesy and funny.  I recommend it to everyone who likes zombie movies or B-movies.  4.5 stars out of 5

The Bad:

Book of Caleb

BOOOOORRRRIIIIIINNNNNGGGGGG!  I watched this movie on Netflix.  I managed to watch the whole movie but it was never anything other than boring.  I hated it.  Have I ever given a movie 0 stars before? I don't know, but this one gets it.  0 stars out of 5.  Lots of people love this movie, but not me.  If you're interested, IMDB summarizes it as "A comfortable underachiever and serial prankster, in the midst of their quarter life crisis, reunite against childhood enemies in a contemporary suburban epic."

The Meh:

Alice Through the Looking Glass

I found this one on Hulu Plus and I have to watch every single Alice in Wonderland movie ever, so I watched it.  It's mostly true to the book.  The costumes are amazing.  They were my favorite part of the movie.  This movie was pretty well done, but sort of boring.  I feel like there was more that they could have done, but didn't.  I give it 3 stars out of 5.

Movie Review: American Zombie

In case you're tired of everyone's Christmas posts, here's a zombie movie review.  American Zombie is a mockumentary.  It is about two people who have teamed up to film a documentary about the living dead population residing in the Los Angeles area.  They have jobs and "lives" just like ordinary people.  One works at a grocery store.  The documentarians are surprised to learn that zombies don't have refrigerators full of dead bodies to eat, and that they don't even eat people.  They eat normal human food.  Then the two documentarians convince the zombies to let them tag along to an event in the desert, similar to Burning Man or Coachella.  This event is normally zombies-only and the documentarians are the first humans to ever attend.  At the event they learn a surprising secret that changes everything.

This movie was kind of funny at the beginning but by the end it was really depressing.  One of my favorite quotes from this movie is on the poster, "We're here. We're dead. Get used to it."  I would not recommend this movie at all.  At the beginning I was thinking it was going to be really good but then it turned into a completely different movie, one that I didn't like at all.  I had high hopes for this movie, but it fell short.  I can only give this movie 1 star out of 5.

This is Just not Happening

I just haven't felt like blogging this week so I haven't blogged.  I'm still not blogging.  Despite its appearance, this is not a blog post.  I haven't been sleeping well lately at all and I've been very tired.  G is super ridiculously awesome and he's going to get an extra plush mattress pad this weekend to see if it helps me sleep better.  Some night I can't fall asleep for about an hour, even though I'm dead tired.  Other nights (or the same nights) I wake up as many as 20 times during the night.  It's ridiculous.  The one night I did sleep fairly well, I had a horrible dream that I got raped.  I woke up and couldn't remember my dream but I started bawling my eyes out out of nowhere and figured it must be my hormones.  Then I felt super anxious about having to be around strangers and especially all the creepy dudes who stare at me when I'm on the bus or waiting for it.  G was very concerned for me and held me and told me he'd give me a ride to and from work that day.  Then while he was holding me and trying unsuccessfully to comfort me, the whole horrid dream came flooding back and I told him about it.  He told me I could stay at his place as long as I wanted this week and he would give me rides to work.  Anyway I tried taking melatonin because that helped me sleep when I was having sleeping problems at the young age of 12.  It's completely natural and has no side effects, but unfortunately this time it is doing nothing for me.  I would try twice the dose but my friend told me it makes her hallucinate with only a 2 mg dose and I'm already taking 5 mg, so a double dose is not a good idea.  Plus there's a warning to never take more than one at a time on the bottle.  I'm probably being stalked by Slender Man.  That would explain it.

This weekend I finally watched Jeepers Creepers 1 and 2, mostly because they were on TV.  I livetweeted both of them.  If you're super bored and want to read my (obviously hilarious) tweets about it, go follow me on Twitter.  Also, according to IMDB they're making a third Jeepers Creepers next year.  Hopefully the special effects are better.  The Creeper's makeup was really well done, but the special effects were laughable.  I literally laughed at the part where the Creeper flew in front of the moon.  Also how did nobody in either movie think to kill it with fire?!  Probably because they needed to keep the option for sequels open.  Anyway the two movies were both pretty good, in my opinion.  I liked the storyline.  It wasn't the same exact storyline as every other supernatural movie ever, so that was good.  The acting was mostly good.  And that is it.  If you want to read more of my opinions and comments on the movies, go check out my Twitter.  And that's it for my not-actually-a-blog-post.

Like a Kid in a Candy Store with Men in Black

I never went to a candy store as a child.  My brother got extremely hyper whenever he had sugar so my mother rarely let us have sugar.  Because I was an understanding child and it wouldn't be fair for me to get candy when my brother couldn't have it.  Pretty much the closest I ever came to a candy store as a kid was when we rarely went on one or two day "vacations" to the Oregon Coast and my parents bought a bunch of saltwater taffy.  It went in an empty ice cream bucket in the kitchen when we got back and we were allowed to eat a piece every so often if we were good.

All this backstory exists to prepare you for my sheer amazement at the variety of candy that exists.  Okay, so it wasn't actually a candy store, it was a buy in bulk candy section in a Top Foods grocery store.  But it was pretty overwhelming.  Candy everywhere, in every shape and color imaginable (just about, I have a pretty good imagination).   After we got home, G told me I should have taken a picture inside the store, after I told him I was going to blog about it.  But alas, I did not, so you will all just have to use your imaginations.  But if you have no imagination, then aside from feeling extremely sorry for you, I will say that we will definitely be going back at some point in life, and at that time I will take a picture.  We focused on the gummy section, since the chocolate section was sooo expensive (sad face).  I got a lot of candy.

Believe it or not, this is only my bag of candy, and I already ate a lot of it before taking this photo.

Between G and I, we got enough candy that it just fit in my purse when I took everything else out and left it in the car.  You see, this was not just some willy-nilly spur-of-the-moment insert-hyphenated-phrase-of-your-choice-here candy purchase.  This was candy to be snuck into the movie theater and surreptitiously consumed while watching Men in Black 3.  (Don't judge me, movie theater candy is waaaay expensive)  Luckily this theater doesn't check bags, because I don't think they would have fallen for, "Oh I forgot all that candy was in there, whoops."  We made it into the movie (we didn't see the 3D one because that costs sooooo much more and because it's hard to keep 3D glasses on over my normal glasses).  The theater was mostly empty, so we got to sit at the optimum viewing angle for not straining our necks.  This was actually the first time G and I have ever been to the movies together, because it is expensive and a lot of movies that have been made since we started dating have not been worth paying to watch.  But Men in Black 3 was deemed worthy of our money, and we had to see it.

The movie was so good, and we ate a ton of candy.  There were no crying babies or annoying people talking through it.  I am definitely not going to try to choose a favorite Men in Black movie.  That is a Herculean task that I will never even attempt.  This one was very good.  We were not disappointed.  There was a great balance of humor, action, suspense, and backstory.  The CGI was flawless (to my untrained eye) and the variety of extraterrestial species was impressive.  This movie also answers some questions you might have been asking.  What is going on between Agent J and Agent K?  Will Agent K ever smile?  What would happen if they had to time travel to save the world?  There's also a character who has this weird Schrodinger's cat TO THE EXTREME thing going on.  And I loved the ending of the movie too.  So I am giving it the coveted rating of 5 stars out of a 5.  I think that it's a must-see for everyone.  And also, the jet packs look kind of like Daleks, which I thought was cool.

Movie Review: Phoebe in Wonderland

I've had this movie sitting in my Instant Queue on Netflix for a while now.  I've started this crazy thing where I'm actually watching the movies in my Instant Queue instead of just constantly adding more.  I know, I'm so insane.  But anyway, I chose this movie because I love the cover art and because it sounded Alice in Wonderland-related.

This movie is about a little girl who seems to act out all the time.  She mouths off in class and yells out at ballets.  She also seems to have very severe OCD.  She has to wash her hands a certain number of times, so much that it makes her skin raw and bloody.  She also has to touch all the square pavers in the yard in a certain order, and if she gets interrupted, she must start over.  She decides to sign up for the school play/musical, which is a production of Alice in Wonderland.  She lands the lead role, because she's the only one who tries out for it who can actually act (which is ironic, since all the kids in the movie are real-life actors).  The only place she doesn't act out is in her drama class and her drama teacher is a wonderful mentor for Phoebe.  Phoebe's mother is worried by what is going on with her daughter.  Her mother is writing her dissertation on Alice in Wonderland, and sometimes Phoebe says things like she's talking with the Red Queen.  When asked if that is her imaginary friend, she insists that she is real.  Many Alice in Wonderland characters talk with Phoebe and at first they seem very helpful.  The parts with the Alice in Wonderland characters are very well done and extremely artistic.  I don't want to give away the ending, because I really did love this movie and think that everyone should watch it, especially kids, so they aren't so quick to label someone as the "weirdo".

I give this movie 5 out of 5 stars.  The acting, mostly by children, was superb.  The storyline was interesting and the plot moved along nicely.  I also loved how artistic it all was.  I would definitely watch this movie again, and I would strongly recommend it to everyone.

Mini Movie Reviews: Choose and Fat Head

G and I found a movie on Netflix called "Choose".  It was made in 2011.  The description made it sound a bit like the Saw movies, so we watched it.  It was pretty good.  A serial killer/serial injurer made people choose between two horrible things.  The main character was a very likeable blond girl who was trying to figure out the pattern and identify the killer.  It was kind of funny that she did a better job of it than her policeman father.  The movie wasn't as predictable as I was fearing it might be.  I actually really enjoyed it and so did G.  It is pretty gory, so it's definitely not for everyone.  The very end made us both go "Wait, what?" and sort of left an opening for a sequel, which I would watch.  I give it 4 stars out of 5, and I recommend it to people who enjoy thrillers/serial killer movies.

We also watched a documentary called "Fat Head" which was pretty good.  It was about a guy trying to prove you can lose weight while eating fast food every day, if you actually use your brain.  It sort of felt like it was made in the 90's although it was actually made in 2009.  It also overused Comic Sans font, which was pretty terrible, but it was interesting enough that I give it a 3 out of 5 stars anyway.

Movie Review: Tiny Furniture

Lately I've been having insomnia.  I usually can't sleep until 3 at the very earliest.  Usually I just stay up and watch How I Met Your Mother until I feel sleepy enough to actually fall asleep.  But yesterday I finished the final episodes of How I Met Your Mother on Netflix, so I had to find something else to watch while I tried to wind down.  I picked a movie called Tiny Furniture.  The description was something about an artist, so I thought why not.  Other people who have seen this movie may disagree with me, but I found this movie incredibly boring.  The characters were annoying and the storyline was less of a storyline and more just something that happened in someone's uninteresting life.  It's the story of a girl coming home to live with her artist mother and her annoying high school sister after she graduates college.  Pretty much, she ends up having a male Youtube celebrity stay at the house, and nothing happens.  Save yourself some time and don't watch this movie.  Unless you have nothing better to do.  But believe me, you have something better to do.  Watching paint dry would be better.  Even the ending seemed like the writers just got bored of the movie and decided to stop at a random point.  I hated this movie.  I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy.  I give it a quarter of a star out of 5, just because I'm not allowed by myself to give a 0.

Mini Movie Reviews: My Future Boyfriend and The Virgin Suicides

So I know I said I wouldn't be posting every single day any more, and I won't.  But I wanted to try a new way of reviewing movies where I just record a few thoughts and impressions during it and don't try to delve into the deeper meanings or analyze the endings.  In other words, this post will be short.  I'm not even going to summarize the movies, but I will link to IMDB if you're curious about them. Here we go!  (You need to read that last sentence in Mario's voice, because that's how it was intended.)

It was called "My Future Boyfriend".  It was on Netflix and I thought a romantic comedy with time travel sounded good, because I'm just weird like that.  I figured it might be a movie that was so cheesy and horrible that I would just turn it off after 10 minutes.  Here are my thoughts, as recorded while watching: it reminds me of Elf and I like Elf, hilarious, the guy's a good actor, the ending was ridiculously cheesy but I loved it, this movie was a pleasant surprise and I really enjoyed it.

I actually expected this one to be good from reading the plot summary.  Thoughts: deep, thought-provoking, sobering, true (meaning that it's not always possible to understand why people do things, especially commit suicide), very well-written and well-acted.

So that's that: mini movie reviews.  I may or may not do more of these, since I have a list of 16 more movies that I have watched without reviewing.  And now I must go make a ton of jewelry for my Etsy shop, which I am opening Friday.

Movie Reviews: Gothika and Cashback

Gothika is the story of a psychiatrist named Miranda Grey (played by Halle Berry),who ends up as a patient in the mental hospital where she used to work after being accused of murdering her husband Doug.  She is determined that she is not insane and that she is actually being haunted/attacked by some sort of demon girl.  She slowly pieces the clues together until it all makes sense, at least as much sense as being haunted by someone can make.  Bits of the movie are really predictable but then there are a couple of twists that you probably won't be expecting.  All in all, the movie was a good makes-you-jump sort of movie and the solution to Miranda's problem was a satisfying one.  I also really liked the ending, even though it existed more to keep the possibility for a sequel open than to be a great ending.  But it worked as a good ending nonetheless, in my opinion.  I give it a 3.5 out of 5, because of the fact that parts of it were so predictable, but it was well woven together as well.

If you can't already tell from the poster, this movie contains lots of female nudity, so if you're squeamish about that, it's probably not the movie for you.  Ben is an art school student whose girlfriend just broke up with him.  He develops insomnia as a result, so he take a job at a grocery store working the night shift.  Soon we discover that Ben has the ability to stop time, a power he has known about since he was a young boy.  The thing that he enjoys most in art school is sketching the female form, and before very long, he is stopping time in the grocery store, so he can disrobe the female customers and sketch them.  Which is obviously a huge invasion of privacy, but they never found out, but still left both G and I going, well this guy is a huge creep.  Before long, Ben develops a crush on the female cashier, who really isn't that pretty, to be completely honest.  More things happen, blah blah blah.  Clearly this isn't my favorite movie ever.  Anyway, I also hated the ending, because it's a very strange reaction for the cashier to have, the exact opposite of the one I would have.  And then Ben manages to stop time and bring the cashier in on the secret with him, which is kind of cool, I guess.  I really didn't care for this movie, so it only gets 1 out of 5 stars.

Movie Review: Gremlins 2

As you may or may not recall, I have a tradition of always watching Gremlins when I get sick.  I don't know why I do this; I just do.  Well, a while ago when I was sick, I decided to watch the second Gremlins movie as well, which I had never seen before.  And then I didn't review it for a very long time.  But now I will review it for you.

I was pleasantly surprised with Gremlins 2: The New Batch.  It was every bit as good as the first movie.  In this film, Billy and Kate have moved to New York.  Billy works in a big important media building, and he has Gizmo at work with him one day (for reasons I can't remember).  Gizmo gets wet and soon the entire building is crawling with gremlins.  Gizmo and Billy and Kate have to fight to keep the gremlins from escaping into the city and taking it over.  Meanwhile, the media moguls in the building are fighting to keep the public from knowing about the gremlins.  There are some zany scenes, as well as some intense action and quick thinking, everything you would expect from Gremlins.  All in all, I enjoyed the movie a lot and I give it 4 out of 5 stars.  And I won't give away the ending.

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go re-make my business cards for my new Etsy shop.  I accidentally made them in 72 dpi instead of 300 dpi, so they printed all pixelated.  And in other exciting news, I have a Facebook page for my Etsy shop now!  If you want to like it, click here.  My mom is the only one who likes it right now, because I'm trying to get the shop stocked before I go too public.

Weekend Recap and Movie Reviews

I spent the weekend with G, like I usually do.  We watched both the Washington Huskies football team and basketball team lose.  But the Seahawks won, which was unexpected, since they've been doing terrible. In other sports news, Stanford's football team remains undefeated, but we didn't watch that game.  Other than watching sports, we watched some movies and played video games.

I got to the next dungeon on Ocarina of Time and learned that my bomb-throwing skills really need some work.  G noticed that my new owl necklace looks like the owl from the game, only mine has fake gemstones.  I made some smoothies that we both thoroughly enjoyed.  I would give you the recipe, but I don't measure.  Peel and cut up a medium sized orange. That is the part that takes the most time.  Then put in about four frozen strawberries per person and some vanilla yogurt.  Then you just blend everything together.  Serve with or without whipped cream on top.  It's actually a super healthy and super tasty thing to make if you're trying to eat healthy.  Just leave off the whipped cream, and if you're really serious about healthy eating, use non-fat yogurt.  It's also really filling, so you can have it as a meal and be completely full after.

On to movies: I watched four, and I'm reviewing them all plus Gremlins 2, which I watched for the first time a while back when I was sick. G fell asleep at the beginning of A Clockwork Orange and slept through the whole thing, as well as Woodshop.  I watched Terminator with G, and then started watching How to be a Serial Killer, and he went to bed a while after I started that one.  I found them all on Netflix. If you haven't heard of A Clockwork Orange, then I'll try to refrain from asking what is wrong with you and instead inform you that it's a classic. It deals with psychological issues. Do not read past the picture if you do not like spoilers.  I would say it is worth watching once, but I, personally, do not want to watch it again.  It is rated R for a reason.  There is nudity and violence, as well as implied rape.  The rape is not shown but the part leading up to it is, and it is made very clear that it happened. Also, if you're easily creeped out, you won't want to look at this guy for an hour and a half.

A Clockwork Orange is a movie by Stanley Kubrick in 1971. He's the same guy who wrote and directed The Shining. A Clockwork Orange is set in a future version of Britain.  At the beginning of the movie, the main character, Alex,  and his friends, or "droogs" as he calls them are at a bar drinking some drugged milk before they go out for some "ultraviolence".  One of the most noticeable things about the bar, which is a theme that continues through the whole movie is how erotic it is.  The tables are shaped like naked women and the milk is also dispensed by what looks like a white plastic naked woman.  One of the most bizarre things about this movie, in my opinion, is how much erotic art is everywhere, which society as a whole seems to be entirely okay with.  At one point a crazy cat lady is murdered with a sculpture she has in her room, which is shaped like a penis.  After the fellows fill up on drugged milk at the bar, they head out on the streets, where they beat an old drunk man mercilessly.  They proceed to where another group of friends is about to rape a young woman.  They taunt the other group of friends as the young lady manages to run away.  Then the two rival groups brawl.  After this they trick an elderly couple into letting them into their house and then beat the old man and rape the woman, while Alex sings "Singin' in the Rain".  The rape itself is not shown but this scene is difficult to watch nonetheless.  We see Alex, a teenage boy, at home in his room listening to Beethoven music.  He claims that he particularly enjoys the 9th symphony. He also has a pet snake, but this factor isn't important to the movie.  The next morning his mother asks him if he's going to school.  He says that he still isn't feeling very well, so he's staying home again.  His mother says that he's missed a whole week of school.  She says to his father something about him working at night, which is apparently the lie he's told them.  Later, Alex is walking around in his underpants and then realizes that his probation officer is in the house.  The doctor and Alex sit on a bed and talk for a while.  After that, Alex goes out and picks up two girls from a music store then takes them home and has a threesome.  Alex and his droogs go out for another night of fun, and this is when Alex ends up murdering the crazy cat lady with her penis sculpture.  He gets arrested and becomes seemingly very spiritual, while actually picturing himself torturing Jesus and sleeping with maidservants.  He is selected as a candidate for aversion therapy and seems eager to be good.   He undergoes the therapy, which consists of wearing a torturous looking device, including metal things holding his eyes open, while being subjected to films depicting various violent things, all set to Beethoven music.  Then he demonstrates to an audience of important people how the desire to fight and rape now make him feel ill to the point of not acting on his desires.  Everyone is very pleased with what appears to be a great success and they release him.  Upon arriving home, Alex finds that his room has been rented out and he has to find somewhere else to stay.  He leaves with his possessions and then the old drunk who he and his droogs attacked earlier recognizes him and brings him to a bunch of homeless people, who beat him up.  Then he gets beat up by two of his former droogs, who are now policemen.  He struggles to get to a house, which he does not realize is the home of the elderly couple he beat and raped earlier.  The old man is now in a wheelchair and the wife is nowhere to be seen.  The man does not recognize Alex and encourages him to clean up and take a bath.  While Alex is in the bathtub, he begins singing "Singin' in the Rain" and the old man hears him from the other room and realizes who he is.  After his bath, the old man and his assistant encourage Alex to eat some food and drink some wine and then the old man tells Alex about what happened to his wife.  She died of pneumonia, but the man thinks she wouldn't have if it hadn't been for the violent rape breaking her spirit.  At some Alex accidentally informs the man that he has been conditioned against Beethoven music, as a side effect of the therapy.  Alex passes out in his spaghetti, from the drugged wine.  He awakens locked in a room upstairs, while the old man blasts Beethoven's 9th downstairs.  Alex shouts at the man to turn off the music, then bangs his head on the floor in an attempt to make it stop.  Then he decides to kill himself, and jumps out of the window.  He awakens in a cast in the hospital.  The government is in trouble for their experiments on Alex.  The Interior Minister visits Alex in the hospital to apologize for their actions.  He promises Alex a good job where he will earn as much money as he wants, in return for Alex helping the government.  Alex agrees and the press photographs the occasion.  The hospital plays him Beethoven's 9th and Alex imagines having sex in the snow and as the movie ends, he quips that he is cured indeed, friends.  The end credits roll to the tune of "Singin' in the Rain".  I am not going to analyze the movie, only review it.  I was equally bored and shocked at the beginning.  I stuck with it and the exploration of the effects of therapy to remove violent tendencies proved to be rather interesting.  I do not plan to watch this movie again, but it was okay to watch once.  I think it was very well-written, and the actors were very good. Some scenes were very disturbing which I know is what Kubrick was going for, but I wouldn't want to see them again. The movie made me think, which I like, so I give it 3 stars out of 5.

I think that this post is long enough already, so I'll end it here and review the other movies later this week.

First of all, he's trying to convince me that I already helped him transfer a large sum of money and I just don't remember.  He's just trying to pain me what I clearly earned, before developing amnesia.  I won't be able to contact him, because, naturally, he'll be off investing his large sum of money, and far too busy to check his email or answer his phone.  Not tricky enough, spammer, not tricky enough.

Anyway, in other, much more interesting news, I met some of G's friends on Saturday.  They're all pretty cool and fun to hang out with.  And they all seemed to like me.  We barbecued hot dogs and drank mixed drinks.  Mine consisted of vanilla rum, cranberry juice, and lemonade.  It was the hottest day of the year, and heat zaps my appetite, so I only had one hot dog.  We were at E and S's apartment, which is about 30 minutes away.  E and S have been dating for two years and they live together.  S, a female, asked G to drive her to go to the liquor store, since she was too drunk to drive herself.  G asked me if I wanted to come along, despite the fact that I couldn't go in, since everyone else had left, but S insisted I should stay with E, since it was hot out and I couldn't go in anyway.  So I did.  You're probably thinking that E made a move on me or something.  That did not happen.  E is a very nice guy with nerdy Star Wars tattoos, and he wouldn't do that.  He went and cleaned up the kitchen.  I asked if he wanted help.  He said no, he'd get more brownie points with S if he cleaned it by himself.  Then his friend J called, and he came over.  G and S returned from the liquor store and then S went into the bathroom and G told me that we need to talk later.  Then we played this fun game called Kings.  After that, S went into her room to take a nap, because she had a headache, and the guys and I hung out and talked and watched funny Youtube videos.  Then I almost puked and G held my hair back until I was sure I was okay.  After about an hour longer of hanging out, we left to go home.  Before we turned to get onto the freeway, I felt like I had to puke again, so I let G know and he pulled into a parking lot, where I just barely managed to get the door open in time.  I think I would have been fine if it hadn't been so hot out.  Heat and I do not get along well at all.  G found me a bag and doubled it in case I had to puke again before we got off the freeway.  Then he actually kissed me.  Then we got nearly all the way home, literally a minute from his house.  He pulled over against the curb and told me that S had kissed him when he took her to the liquor store.  He was pretty freaked out, because E is his best friend, and he really doesn't want to screw up their friendship.  He wanted to tell E, because he is a very honest guy, but E and S live together, so he really can't.  It's a bit of a moral dilemma for him.  Also, E, S, and G have been very good friends for a long time, and he was just thoroughly baffled.  He processed for a while, and finally came to terms with the fact that he really can't tell E.  Then he kissed me again, and said the only pukefaced girl he wants to kiss is me.  Super romantic, right? It was really sweet though.  After that, I told him that he has to talk to her about it, because if anyone is going to tell E what happened, it has to be her.  I'm right about that, aren't I?  After that, we went into his house and cuddled and watched Naruto.  I've seen most of the first season before, but he hadn't and it has been a while since I've seen it, so we started from the beginning.  He really liked it.  Then we went to bed.  He's taken to calling me amazing and beautiful a whole lot more, which I love.

The next order of business is movie reviews.  These will be quite brief, since I have 12 of them.  Yeah, I know that's a lot.  So I am dividing them into movies that I really enjoyed and would heartily recommend and movies that I didn't care so much for and never want to see again, and then some that I'm sort of undecided about.  Don't comment on my punctuation.   I know comma splices are running rampant.  So, good movies to watch: Charlie Bartlett, it's about a kid who has been kicked out of all the private schools and how he starts going to public school and acting as the unofficial therapist to the students there; St. Trinian's School for Girls, it's dark and twisted, which I love in a movie, it's about a school for girls, whose theme song is about them being the defenders of anarchy, breaking the law in order to get money to prevent their school from being closed down; Office Space, recommended to me by G, a really hilarious movie about people hating their jobs and rebelling against their horrible boss; Transformers, love love love love love, nothing but good things to say about all three of them, which I watched with G, they're funny, they're action-packed, they're far-fetched but not too far-fetched, okay so alien robots probably aren't real, but the plot was good is what I'm trying to say basically, these movies have taken a place in my top ten movies list; Constantine, one of G's favorites, sadly I fell asleep for about five minutes at the end, so I don't know how it ended, but every bit I saw was really good, it's delightfully creepy and I loved it; Bridesmaids, which seriously surprised me, watched it with my roommates, thought it would be a lame chick flick, but my abs hurt by the time it was over, I laughed so much, it's about, surprisingly enough, bridesmaids.

So that's it for the ones I loved.  Here are the ones I hated: Sweeney Todd (the Tim Burton one! (I know right)), about a barber who murders people, the story was shallow, the musicalness was annoying, it takes a lot for me to not like a Tim Burton movie so you can see how awful this one must be; Forget-Me-Not, got this one from Redbox, watched it with G, the story was interesting, the part of it that made any sense, that is, not much of it made sense is the problem, scary gory confusing story, and the ending just leaves you going 'huh?', House of 9, watched with G, courtesy of Netflix, had the potential to be good, Battle Royale style competition between kidnapped people in a house, winner gets 5 million dollars, sort of a study into what people are capable of, it was alright for what it was, but for being very entertaining, it really wasn't.

There's this new category on Netflix (maybe not new, but I just noticed it) called Darkly Suspenseful Psychological Thrillers.  Oddly specific, isn't it?  That is actually exactly the sort of movie that I usually love, so I'm pretty excited about it.

Movies that were alright/I'm sort of on the fence about: Prom, what can I say but meh? It was predictable and sort of like A Walk to Remember, but without cancer, it was a nice story, but like I said, very predictable; Wristcutters: A Love Story, it was really interesting from both a psychological and an entertainment standpoint, sort of really depressing though, so I didn't entirely love it, about a world where people who commit suicide go and a boy finding his ex-girlfriend there after he kills himself when she breaks up with him.

That's it for movie reviews.

G is going with me to my family picnic on Sunday :) We're leaving on Friday and returning on Monday.  I just emailed my mom to let her know that, and also that he exists, so we'll see what she says.  I'm off to shower and get ready to go hang out with G.

What is Luv?

Lately, my blog posts have contained more than one main thing that I want to discuss and this one is no exception.  Prepare for me recounting this guy being a complete jerk, a movie review, and some questions I have.

So first off, I have learned a very valuable lesson that I'm sure will serve me well for the rest of my life.  Do not try to make friends on Craigslist.  The fact that you are posting in the "strictly platonic" section on Craigslist does not necessarily mean that guys who read your ad for JUST FRIENDS will even know what the word platonic means.  Or if they do know what it means, then dude, I seriously have a knack for making guys really like me after we meet in person.  I met four Craigslist guys, 4 guys that I confirmed with in advance that I only wanted friends.  4 guys who said they just wanted friends too.  4 guys who met me and 3 out of the 4 guys who liked me as more than a friend.  2 guys who I had to let down gently.  2 guys who agreed we could still be friends (which, if you remember, was all I wanted the entire time).  2 guys who I haven't heard from since they said that, yeah, we could still be friends.  1 guy who seemed to understand that I just wanted a friend.  1 guy who acted like all he wanted was a friend too.  1 guy who had no other friends besides me.  1 guy who I hung out with 4 times ever.  1 guy who texted me asking if I wanted to go on a road trip to Wyoming with him, JUST AS FRIENDS.  1 guy who recently asked me what church I go to and if he could come along, because he wants to get his life back together.  1 guy who I received an invitation to go on a road trip with him after we've only seen each other 4 times, supposedly just as friends, and that I thought WTF?! and didn't reply to just then because I was Skyping with G.  1 guy who I didn't end up replying to because I was trying to formulate some sort of reply other than WTF?! We've only ever seen each other four times ever. No, I won't go on a road trip with you!  The story I plan to tell begins here.  Yesterday was Wednesday.  I didn't realize this until 7:00 at night yesterday.  I have church on Wednesday at 9:30.  The guy, M, really enjoyed it when he went to church with me (or so he led me to believe).  I didn't want to have to wait at a sketchy bus stop after church on the street where the drug dealers and homeless people are.  (I have nothing against homeless people. Many of them are really great.  Just some of them have mental illnesses, and yeah, they frighten me.)  So I texted M to see if he wanted to go to church with me and apologized for the last minute-ness, and explained how I didn't realize it was Wednesday until literally the minute before I texted him.  He replies that I am a waste of time, and he's already in Wyoming.  (Only with slightly more colorful and rude language. I like to keep my blog as close to G-rated as possible.)  Me, being such a nice person, tries to be the bigger person, and apologize for not replying to his road trip invite text.  Then he cusses me out and says mean and hurtful things to me, which I could deal with.  But then he acts like I led him on!  I had very clearly established that I only wanted to be friends, so he had no right at all to accuse me of leading him on.  And then he says that I wasted his time dragging him to church or whatever, when he asked me if he could go and then acted like he enjoyed it.  By this point I am very very very mad.  So I texted him that I thought he was a nice person but apparently I was wrong.  He replies that he thought I was nice too.  And that he had liked me.  Like I even care how he felt about me.  He's obviously a jerk.  I am nice.  Then he says that maybe he is a jerk, but soon he'll be a rich jerk.  So the guy throws away the only friend he has in the world for money.  Awesome.  So then I texted him to please stop texting me, and surprisingly, he did stop texting me.  I'm just glad I didn't waste more time with him.  I was pretty upset by then, so I didn't go to church, although G offered to take me.  Instead, I went over to G's for a while and he shared his dinner with me and we watched a movie and cuddled and he said tons of nice things and cheered me up and made me no longer want to punch something.  Sidenote: Do not watch a movie called Blackout.  It sounds really interesting, but in reality, it is not.  You will spend the entire movie waiting for it to get interesting, and then it finally does for about two minutes, and then the ending is horrible too.

Movie review time.  (Blackout wasn't actually worth reviewing.)  The first movie I watched on my first visit to G's (well, the first visit where I went inside and wasn't just meeting his chickens), was called Suspect Zero.  It was such a good movie.  It's about a serial killer who targets serial killers, and then some people are psychic and it's all really crazy.  This movie was fantastic, so good that G and I hardly made out during it at all, because we were paying attention, unlike Blackout.  If you like movies that make you think, movies about serial killers, or just movies where crazy stuff happens that makes you say "Whoa", then you should definitely watch this movie.  I give it 8 stars out of 10.

Which brings me to my questions, and some stuff that I just need to share.  So if you couldn't tell by the fact that I included him in every single aspect of this post, I really like G.  More than I've ever liked any guy.  So the thing is that he likes this other girl too.  And it's not even in a he's a total jerk, how could he way.  He's known this girl for a long time.  And he has been completely honest about it.  Nothing has happened between them yet.  It's sort of tearing him apart that he likes both of us so much, and he knows that eventually he'll have to choose.  But he has been hanging out with me, and not with her, for nearly every single night since we've met.  I think this is the first night since we started dating that we haven't either gone out, stayed in together, or he's come over at like 1 in the morning, because he wants to kiss me.  And it wasn't because he was with her. He just didn't want me to get sick of him, like that would even happen.  I trust him.  He appears to be completely honest with me.  At least, he has shared some very personal things that aren't the sorts of things you tell just anyone.  He calls me angel, and I love it.  Sometimes he calls me his awkward angel, but he keeps saying that I'm not that awkward anymore.  We make each other laugh a lot, sometimes while we're kissing, and then it makes kissing rather difficult.  We chat via IM on Skype all day long while he's at work, when he'll have little breaks.  And he has started saying, "I luv you", on chat.   It started out as, "I really like you a lot", and has recently progressed into luv.  So my question is, what does luv mean? I feel like it's a step above like and a step below love, like maybe he's trying it out before he actually drops the "l" word, and I do not mean lesbians.  (Scott Pilgrim, anyone?)  And the thing is, I think I'm falling in love with him.  But I can't help but worry that he'll choose this Ivy chick over me.  She's probably closer to his age, for one thing.  I don't really feel like I can compete, and I don't want to be hurt.  I've let him know that no matter what happens, I will never hate him.  And if he chooses her, I do still want to be friends.

My First Guest Post

I did my first guest post ever.  It's located here.  I feel like I'm a real blogger now, since other people like me enough to have me write on their blogs : )

But fear not, dearest minions, I am not using that blog post as an excuse to not do a proper post here.  I think you guys know me better than that by now.  So you get two posts for the price of one! And of course, the price of one is free, unless you feel compelled to donate to my not-going-blind fund, she says hopefully.

I have some movies to review for you today: Super 8, Crazy/Beautiful, and She's All That.

Super 8 was a fantastic movie, action-packed enough to make it worth watching in theaters.  Although, it was not so action-packed that it made my eyes have trouble focusing and caused me confusion.  That happens sometimes, like with the new Harry Potter.  The story was fairly unique, as unique as stories can be in these times, when so many movies have already been made.  Some sort of creature has come to a small town and is making life difficult.  It is causing disappearances and a few deaths.  Soldiers are trying to cover something up.  There are some kids who end up in the wrong place at the wrong time, and they get involved with it.  Besides that, there's this young love sort of thing going on.  I thoroughly enjoyed the movie.  I give it a 9 out of 10, merely for the fact that I feel like 10 out of 10 must be saved for the best films of all time, like the original Star Wars trilogy and Fifth Element and Stardust.

That brings me to the next movie.  G told me I should watch Crazy/Beautiful and She's All That, because they're his favorite love movies, so I did.  Crazy/Beautiful is the tale of a scholarly Latino boy meeting a somewhat crazy/partying/lashing out white girl.  They fall madly in love and are both positive influences on one another.  She teaches him to lighten up and enjoy life more, and he helps her to reconnect with her father.  It is a really good movie, and I enjoyed it immensely, and I don't normally watch love movies (I think you guys know that).  I would rank it up there with A Walk to Remember, but I might like it a little better, since it's not sad.  I give it 7 out of 10 stars.  G is trying to get me to enjoy life more, therefore the recommendation.

He took me out last night to have burgers, fries, and shakes.  We sat in his car and ate.  I introduce him to the deliciousness that is dipping your french fries in your milkshake.  It was especially perfect for those fries, since they were fairly salty.  Then, when he was driving me home, he kissed me at nearly every red light.  He's started calling me angel, which I really enjoy.  We are going to an art festival this weekend and I'm really looking forward to it.  I've never been to an art festival, and it looks like a lot of fun.  It's also pretty much 3 different art festivals all in the same vicinity, so it's pretty huge.

She's All That is the story of the most popular guy in school betting that he can turn any girl into the prom queen.  He makes a bet on it.  Enter geeky, klutzy art student girl.  He asks her out and gets rejected.  He starts borderline stalking her, showing up at her work, showing up at her house, and finally gets her to agree to hang out with him.  She becomes popular because of him, but remains the same person she was, only with a makeover.  Spoiler alert, but not like you couldn't see it coming.  She finds out about the bet and gets really mad.  Anyway, I won't give away the ending, although you can probably guess.  I give it 6 stars out of 10, mainly for being so predictable.  G insists that he didn't bet on me.  He claims that I'm really beautiful, and that I just don't realize it.
