Friday Fashion: Picnic in the Park

On Monday Jordan and I went to the park and had a picnic, then wandered around the trails.  It was really fun.  And he took outfit photos for me!  (winning at life)

Fair Trade Fashion

All of the items in the above outfit are fair trade, excluding the sunflower, bird, rain, and paintbrush graphics.  These items (except the rug) are all fairly affordable and I would love to have each one.  You may think that fair trade is expensive, and that's true, but it's also false.  Similar items from different countries can have very different prices because of how fair trade works.  One of the principles of fair trade is that the artisans who make the products earn a living wage.  The living wage varies from country to country so the price also varies depending on the country the product is from.  Some products in the fair trade store I work at seem quite expensive, but for the amount of work that goes into them, it's a reasonable price.  However other products (especially the scarves) seem really inexpensive for the amount of work that goes into them.  There are handwoven hand-dyed scarves that cost as low as $12 each!  That is because the living wage in those countries is so much lower that the artists still make a living wage with those low prices.

In this outfit the clutch, necklace, bracelet, and shoes are all fair trade.  Could you have figured that out if I hadn't told you?  Fair trade products can be really fashionable and really affordable.  In fact I have found that many fair trade products from around the world are lower priced than similar products handmade in the United States.

Places to Go in Seattle

All of the places on this list are places that I have either been to and want to see again, or want to go to.  These places would be fun as cheap dates or for hanging out with friends.

I've been here before too and it was amazing!  Jordan loves music so I am excited to go with him.  Also they have a Star Wars exhibit right now, so I hope we can go soon.  Here is the post I wrote about my first EMP visit.

Ye Olde Curiosity Shoppe
This place is currently closed for construction but I will definitely be going once it re-opens.  My parents would always take me there when they would come up to visit.  There are always really interesting things to see.  It's half-store and half-natural history/oddities museum.

It's a big troll under a bridge.  I've gone past a few times but never stopped.

Ballard Street Art Walk

It's been awhile since my last street art post. I took these photos in December and I'm just getting around to sharing them now.

I took these photos while wandering around the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle, which is the neighborhood I work in.  I didn't walk too far so there's probably still a lot more great street art I haven't seen yet.

Friday Fashion: Star Wars Marathon

I don't know what to wear to run a Star Wars marathon (if that's a thing), but I do know what to wear to watch a Star Wars marathon.  My hair is finally long enough to sort of do Princess Leia buns, so I attempted them.  I also wore my Star Wars tee shirt from Thinkgeek.com and my Star Wars hair bow from my favorite hair bow making person.  No Star Wars marathon outfit is complete without a Photoshopped lightsaber.

Let's Talk about Superpowers

If I could have any superpower at all I would choose teleportation.  I am always running late for the bus in the morning and on the rare occasion that I'm not running late, the bus is late.  So it would be great to just teleport to work and not have to worry about the bus or having to deal with people who DO NOT KNOW HOW TO SHARE THE SIDEWALK WITH OTHERS!  Plus when I'm having bad social anxiety I don't want to ride the bus anyway, so it would minimize human interaction.
