This is Just not Happening
I just haven't felt like blogging this week so I haven't blogged. I'm still not blogging. Despite its appearance, this is not a blog post. I haven't been sleeping well lately at all and I've been very tired. G is super ridiculously awesome and he's going to get an extra plush mattress pad this weekend to see if it helps me sleep better. Some night I can't fall asleep for about an hour, even though I'm dead tired. Other nights (or the same nights) I wake up as many as 20 times during the night. It's ridiculous. The one night I did sleep fairly well, I had a horrible dream that I got raped. I woke up and couldn't remember my dream but I started bawling my eyes out out of nowhere and figured it must be my hormones. Then I felt super anxious about having to be around strangers and especially all the creepy dudes who stare at me when I'm on the bus or waiting for it. G was very concerned for me and held me and told me he'd give me a ride to and from work that day. Then while he was holding me and trying unsuccessfully to comfort me, the whole horrid dream came flooding back and I told him about it. He told me I could stay at his place as long as I wanted this week and he would give me rides to work. Anyway I tried taking melatonin because that helped me sleep when I was having sleeping problems at the young age of 12. It's completely natural and has no side effects, but unfortunately this time it is doing nothing for me. I would try twice the dose but my friend told me it makes her hallucinate with only a 2 mg dose and I'm already taking 5 mg, so a double dose is not a good idea. Plus there's a warning to never take more than one at a time on the bottle. I'm probably being stalked by Slender Man. That would explain it.
This weekend I finally watched Jeepers Creepers 1 and 2, mostly because they were on TV. I livetweeted both of them. If you're super bored and want to read my (obviously hilarious) tweets about it, go follow me on Twitter. Also, according to IMDB they're making a third Jeepers Creepers next year. Hopefully the special effects are better. The Creeper's makeup was really well done, but the special effects were laughable. I literally laughed at the part where the Creeper flew in front of the moon. Also how did nobody in either movie think to kill it with fire?! Probably because they needed to keep the option for sequels open. Anyway the two movies were both pretty good, in my opinion. I liked the storyline. It wasn't the same exact storyline as every other supernatural movie ever, so that was good. The acting was mostly good. And that is it. If you want to read more of my opinions and comments on the movies, go check out my Twitter. And that's it for my not-actually-a-blog-post.

Friday Fashion: I'm a Rockstar
I wasn't going to post tonight but I am anyway, because I love you guys and i just can't stay away. I love the outfit I'm wearing right now. I wore my when-getting-attacked-by-a-Dalek outfit to work today. Hopefully sometime tonight my friend Melanie will wake up from her nap and go to dinner on the Ave with me like she said she would. This is my woohoo I got my first paycheck at my new job and can eat something that isn't from a microwave outfit. Or just my rockstar outfit. Either or.

Sometimes Three Day Weekends Aren't so Fun
It all started out okay. Well okay-ish anyway. We watched football, the Washington Huskies on Saturday and the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. Neither game was very impressive. Our teams are not playing like they could. A few players were giving a full 100% but most of them were playing at more like 90% of their skill at the most. I feel like the Huskies were so intimidated by the fact that we were playing the number three team and everyone thought we would lose that we did lose, quite horribly. It wasn't even enjoyable to watch, we got beat so badly. The Seahawks managed to score two touchdowns in the entire game, but the refs didn't count one of them. It's not like we would have won anyway. Then we watched Animation Domination on Fox on Sunday night and it was hilarious, as always, especially The Simpsons. On Sunday we got Taco Bell and I forgot that the Cantina Bowl existed until after we got back, so I didn't get to try it yet. Then on Monday I stayed home from work because I had a high fever and was puking. I mostly slept a lot and G was super sweet and came home to check on me on his lunch break. Luckily it was just a 24 hour thing so I went back to work on Tuesday. Work is going pretty well. When I stay at G's, I have to transfer busses twice during the day and for some reason the first bus was 10 minutes early twice, so G had to give me a ride to where I caught the other bus. There's this girl who rides the second bus who always wears really cool clothes and she has a really cool haircut (It's a white pixie cut) and I always want to compliment her on her awesome fashion but she always has headphones in, so I never do. So that's pretty much what's happened in my life lately. I haven't even managed to put stuff how I want it in my room yet. I did put up a few pieces of art and my jewelry. Priorities, you know.

Etsy Interview: Krissy from Orange Box Jewelry
Remember that shop I was telling you about the other day? Valley of Roses Boutique. Well I interviewed an Etsy seller who sells some of her jewelry in that shop and here is what she has to say, but first look at some of her super unique creations.
I'm really in love with jewelry with stones and/or crystals lately. |
She clearly makes way better necklaces from pins than I do. |
And here's the interview:
1. Tell me a little bit about yourself.
1. Tell me a little bit about yourself.
I’m originally from Pittsburgh and spent some time in Dallas before making my way to Seattle. It means that *heart* football, shiny objects, pretty vintage things and coffee equally. In college, I created my own degree called “American Studies: Consumer Culture, A Case Study in Coffee” (for real) which lead to my passion for finding the best short Americano in Seattle.
2. Tell me a little bit about your shop.
My Etsy shop is filled with pieces that I make from vintage recycled/repurposed costumer jewelry and found objects. I love to use pieces that have a story behind them to craft something new to wear.
3. How long have you been making jewelry?
I started making jewelry more than 20 years ago. I started because I like to wear things that no one else has. In Pittsburgh in the early 1990’s the only way to accomplish that was to make it yourself.
4. Why did you start making jewelry?
See above.
5. What inspires your jewelry the most?
I buy a lot of my costume jewelry and objects that I reuse from their original owners. Here in Seattle, I have what I affectionately refer to as my ‘gang’ of older ladies who hunt for items for me and tell their friends about the crazy (but nice) girl who buys single broken earrings and old chains for cash. When I buy from someone, I always try to find out the history behind some specific piece. Those usually influence which pieces I use first and how I put them together.
6. What advice would you have for new Etsy sellers?
You will get out of Etsy what you put into it. If you post without thought to your tags or descriptions, no one will find you. If you post once and never again, no one will find you. As I’m typing, there are 15,401,152 products for sale right now on Etsy. Work to be found and you will be.
It's no secret that I am a huge fan of supporting small businesses, especially ones with lovely and unique products, so everyone shoud go check out Orange Box Jewelry on Etsy.
I will definitely have more of these interviews in the future. I love getting to know the person behind the product. Leave me a comment if you would like me to interview you and I'll see what I can do.

What I'm Loving Lately
Some of my current obsessions include: Girls, Kat Dennings, Felicia Day, watercolor art by other people, and hair. I may or may not have watched all of Girls season one in one sitting. Kat Dennings is one of my favorite actresses now. Whenever I'm feeling less than bold, I put on some dark lipstick and try to channel her courage and attitude. Felicia Day is one of my favorite people ever. She's such an amazing role model for girls of all ages. I especially love The Flog, which is the vlog that she does. Her entire Geek and Sundry channel is full of spectacular shows and she's just such a down-to-earth delightfully geeky person. I've been pinning all sorts of watercolor art on Pinterest ever since I've been on Pinterest. Here are a few of my favorites.
Via Pinterest This one really appealed to me because I like doing art with skylines. |
Via Pinterest Makes me miss my red hair. |
Via Pinterest This is the color that I want to dye my hair. I love how her cardigan matches perfectly. |
Via Pinterest Note how hair and watercolor art sometimes combine in my obsessions. |
Via Pinterest This girl reminds me of Kat Dennings and I think purple hair looks great. |
So I think it's pretty obvious that I want to dye my hair, just blue streaks though, and I'd like some choppy layers. The jury is still out on whether or not I should have bangs. Anyway I'm going to bed now.

Labor Day
I celebrated Labor Day by finally getting a job. I responded to some ads on Craigslist and one of the people called me an hour later and asked if I could come in at 11 the next day. If I seemed trainable, she would hire me. So I came in and she hired me. Meaning that now I am employed full time as a jewelry maker! What this means for the blog is that I might post less and when I do post, it will be at night. What this means for my Etsy shop is that all orders will be shipped on Saturday. So that is my exciting news and now I am going to bed.
